WILD Partnership
At Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, Texas Tech University veterinary students are gaining rare, hands-on experience caring for exotic animals from around the world. Through an ongoing partnership with the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine and conservation organization Save The Giraffes, final-year students are able to complete a four-week clinical rotation working directly with the animals that call the ranch home.
During the rotation, students assist in the medical care of a wide range of exotic species under the guidance of experts in wildlife health and conservation. The program offers a unique opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, preparing students for careers that may take them across the globe.
Leading the rotation is Dr. Stephen Momberg, Director of Veterinary Care for Save The Giraffes. Dr. Momberg brings decades of experience in wildlife medicine and conservation, having dedicated much of his career to research and fieldwork involving giraffes and rhinoceroses throughout Europe and Africa.
“Hosting Texas Tech veterinary students continues to be a meaningful part of our conservation work,” said Tiffany Soechting, Marketing Director at Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. “Giving future veterinarians real-world experience with exotic species supports not only the animals in our care, but conservation efforts worldwide.”
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to education, research, and the long-term protection of wildlife. By offering immersive clinical experiences, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch and its partners are helping train the next generation of veterinarians to care for and advocate for exotic species—both locally and around the world.
